Robin Winter’s creative journey has always been one of curiosity, exploration and making. Across painting, textiles, basketmaking and jewellery, she has followed an intuitive desire to explore colour, texture, form and gesture.

Her current practice is centred on semi-abstract acrylic painting, where emotion, memory and a sense of place find expression through colour and spontaneous mark-making. Inspired by the shifting moods and rhythms of nature, the sea, gardens, changing light and the richly layered landscape of the Huon Valley, Robin seeks to capture not simply what is seen, but what is felt.

Influenced by the Impressionists and Abstract Expressionists, she is drawn to the emotional power of colour and the freedom of loose, expressive marks. Layers, gestures and unexpected colour relationships evolve intuitively through the painting process, allowing each work to move between recognition and abstraction.

For Robin, painting is an exploration rather than a fixed destination. It is a way of responding to the world around her, translating moments of beauty, energy and emotion into visual language. She hopes her work invites viewers to pause, connect with their own memories and feelings, and find something personal within the colours, textures and forms.

A lifelong student of the creative arts, Robin holds a B.A. Visual Art (Dist), Dip. Fine Art, HICAT Dip. Art Therapy and a B.Ed. She has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across Queensland, Western Australia and Tasmania.
