Molly Duncan considers herself an accidental artist. Born of a determination to recover from major surgery and chronic pain, she started painting six-years ago. Molly says she paints intuitively with oil & cold wax medium. She starts with mark-making on the canvas which then takes her on an abstract journey to places travelled and evoking memories of favourite places, landscapes, food and events that have shaped her life. Molly’s journeys have taken her from Edinburgh to Tangiers, Perth to Kota Kinabalu in Borneo and Cairns to Cygnet Tasmania.

Molly’s recent body of work was featured in a solo exhibition at the Sidespace Gallery at Salamanca Arts Centre - The Southern Edge Collection - which is a reflection of her first year's work as an unhurried artist in Tasmania, inspired by the beauty and landscape of the Huon Valley and a life well-lived.

Cooking is Molly’s passion but since discovering her creativity in painting, cooking is now on the back burner. In addition to her painting, she has taught oil & cold wax workshops for four years in Cairns before settling in Tasmania and is pleased to continue offering her Lunch & Paint Workshops in her home studio in Cygnet and has upcoming workshops at PAGAN CIDER CELLAR DOOR (Nov 7 - Abstracts in oil and cold wax medium, Nov 8 - Printmaking on the Gell plate)
