Mahalia White-McColl is an emerging Tasmanian Artist and environmentalist based in Cygnet, making environmentally sensitive functional ceramics and figurative ceramic sculpture. With a Bachelor of Natural Environment and Wilderness Studies, Mahalia uses her scientific background to complement her artistic expression. Her work focusses on the wildlife found near her home in Cygnet, on Melukerdee Country. She is drawn to the misty and earthy tones found in the surrounding landscape. The connection between people and nature in her work is a visual representation of our interdependence, and she is continually pursuing ways to reduce the environmental footprint of her practice.

Her sculptural work has earned significant recognition, including the 2025 Kingborough Council Acquisition Award for her piece "Still Standing", through the Art Farm Birchs Bay Art Prize.

In late 2025, she was an Artist in Residence at Driving Creek Pottery in New Zealand, where she created a body of work using local rocks to create unique glazes, and pressing endemic flora into clay to create impressions of place.

Her solo show in 2024, Tasmania in Texture, at the Cradle Mountain Wilderness Gallery, explored a range of surfaces in ceramics and acrylic ink painting. Her sculptures have been exhibited in exhibitions at the Long Gallery Salamanca, at Social Gallery Salamanca, and her quolls have even travelled to Sculptures in the Garden Art Prize in Mudgee NSW.

Through her work she aspires to create social change through expressing the beauty and fragility of so-called ‘wild’ places.
