For Kerri Jacobson, painting is an intuitive journey into colour, emotion and possibility.

After years of exploring art alongside a career in early childhood education, retirement has given Kerri the freedom to immerse herself fully in her love of painting and the abstract form, using acrylic as her main medium of choice.

Her process begins without a fixed destination. She responds instinctively to colour, line, shape and gesture, allowing each mark to suggest the next. Sometimes a painting emerges quickly, driven by an immediate emotional response; at other times, it unfolds slowly through layers, revisions and unexpected discoveries.

Each work becomes a conversation between intuition and intention, a process of adding, obscuring, revealing and responding until the painting reaches a point where it feels complete. For Kerri, there is no predetermined formula; a work is finished only when she can step back and say, simply,

“I love this.”

Abstract art offers Kerri a space beyond the familiar and the expected. It allows her to explore emotion and experience without the constraints of representation, while inviting the viewer to interpret and connect in their own way.

Through colour, movement, line and form, Kerri hopes to create a sense of curiosity and emotional connection. Her paintings invite viewers to slow down, look beyond the obvious and discover their own response within the work.
