Katherine Perrott
painter
Originally from Melbourne, Katherine Perrott moved to Tasmania 10 years ago to take up a residency at the Salamanca Art Centre in Hobart. This opportunity gave her an exciting chance to explore new landscapes and possibilities. As a regular hiker, Katherine takes inspiration from remote areas in Tasmania, exploring the majestic and yet vulnerable landscapes. Through the making of art, her relationship with nature grows and deepens.
Katherine says, “My practice is grounded in an engagement with landscape, geography, and how we move through environments. The magic of nature offers an encounter with both lyrical beauty and an unpredictable powerful force.” She loves the mosaic of colours found in the alpine areas: the bright array of flowers set against the deep umbers and indigos of the heath and distant mountains. In addition to her studio in the beautiful Huon Valley Katherine holds regular solo exhibitions and sells work nationally and Internationally.
