Anna is a painter based in lutruwita/Tasmania. Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, she has lived in New York, Sydney and Xi'an before settling on the island, where her practice has become deeply informed by its distinctive landscapes and layered histories.

Working with water-based media, Anna paints predominantly en plein air, responding directly to the shifting conditions of the landscape. Balancing gestural immediacy with a disciplined compositional approach, her paintings distill the experience of being within the landscape rather than simply representing it.

Her cultural and religious heritage continues to inform her practice. The rich, muted palette of Russian Orthodox iconography and vivid colours and patterns of Mosques have  found a new expression in the Tasmanian bush, embodying deepness of human values and understanding of what truly matters in our short existence. 

Her practice explores the relationship between perception, memory, and place, considering landscape as both a physical and psychological space. 

Anna graduated from the St. Petersburg Stieglitz Academy of Art and Design in 2011. She has since exhibited internationally and completed a broad range of public and private commissions. Recent exhibitions include a duo exhibition ‘She Walks in Beauty’ at the Henry Jones Art Hotel's Packing Room Gallery and a group exhibition ‘Artists of the Huon Valley’ at the Long Gallery,  Salamanca Arts Centre. Currently she is developing a new body of work for her forthcoming solo exhibition.
