In the Huon Valley, an old apple packing shed has been transformed into a place of colour, imagination and creative connection. Studio 359 is Heather’s vibrant working space, a place where she paints alongside fellow artists, shares ideas and techniques, and celebrates the simple joy of making.

Heather’s acrylic paintings begin with the things that capture her affection: everyday objects, treasured family heirlooms and curious little discoveries gathered over time. These familiar objects are reimagined through layers of pattern, texture and intricate detail, creating whimsical and often unexpected worlds.

Her love of textiles and many years spent learning lace making in the UK have found a new expression in paint. Delicate lace motifs, once created painstakingly with thread, are recreated through fine brushwork, becoming part of richly layered compositions where pattern, surface and design intertwine.

Heather’s paintings invite the viewer to look closely. What may first appear playful and decorative gradually reveals a fascination with memory, craftsmanship and the beauty hidden within ordinary things. Each layer adds another detail, another connection, another reason to linger.

For Heather, painting is ultimately an act of affection, a way of celebrating the things she loves and transforming them through colour, pattern and imagination.
