Eva de Heer
multi-disciplinary artist
Eva de Heer is a mostly self-taught generalist artist and crafts person, dabbling in all things creative including but not limited to oil painting, oil pastels, photography, work with found objects, puppet making and woodwork.
Eva says her practice is really a projects-based approach, where an idea takes hold and she works towards making what exists in her mind’s eye. Sometimes this is very immediate; for other concepts, it takes a long time to come into being. She is drawn to capturing landscapes and seeing the patterns and minutiae in nature.
Eva has found a home in the Huon Valley, feeling a connection here to the landscape, climate, wildlife and community that resonates deeply and is reflected in the subjects in nature that she is drawn to again and again.
Working as a member of a small community-based art group has meant that she makes time for her art practise more consistently in amongst an otherwise busy life, a practise that she has found to be calming, meditative and a positive influence.
